Liberty Coca-Cola & Clarke Energy

Giordano Builders would like to congratulate Liberty Coca-Cola Beverages and Clarke Energy, following the groundbreaking of their high-efficiency quad generation plant in Elmsford, New York. The project is a landmark in sustainable power generation, and a first-of-its-kind in the United States.

The groundbreaking, held on July 13th at Liberty Coca-Cola’s facility in Greenburgh New York was attended by numerous state and local elected officials, on hand to mark the beginning of this innovative, sustainable energy project. Liberty Coca-Cola, the largest family-owned producer and distributor of Coca-Cola beverages in the Northeast, selected Clarke Energy for the design and installation of this remarkable power plant. A quad generation power plant is one which produces electricity, heat, and cooling, while also sequestering capturing carbon dioxide emissions. In the case of this particular project, Liberty Coca-Cola Beverages will be recovering CO2 from the power plant and then purifying it to beverage grade standard CO2 for carbonating their beverages in the bottling facility.

With the assistance of Clarke Energy, Liberty Coca-Cola will be continuing their impressive leadership position as an environmentally focused company. Clarke Energy analyzed the facilities production systems, processes and energy needs, and designed a system that would optimize the facility’s environmental performance. When the power plant is complete and online, not only will this advanced technology quad generation system avoid the emission of the power plant’s CO2, but it will also eliminate the need for Liberty Coca-Cola to import CO2 onto the site for beverage carbonation in the bottling facility eliminating over 200 tanker deliveries per year.
